String theory vs Multiple, alternate dimensions?

This is the third question on the matter over-all, many have answered my questions (and thank you very much for your time and efforts) relating to either whether string theory is a workable theory, or the other questions relating to the difference in alternate realities, parallel dimension etc but from what i understand of what you are all saying is that those who accept string theory cannot accept the parallel or alternate etc dimensions and vice verser, mainly due to the fact that the string theorists believe there is up to 11 other dimensions, but not as we would know them. so my question, could there be common grounds in the two separate thinking's, could we make them merge and become workable, and if so why or why not?
