What exactly are half-head highlights?

Half-head highlights are only highlights on the top half portion of your hair, not the bottom. It's hard to have that natural looking highlight when lightening your hair. I got highlights a few weeks ago and my hair is black, at first it took some adjustment getting used to it, but after a couple weeks it looks alot more natural. Full highlights isn't as common anymore, most people just get the top half done, I guess its a personal/ financial choice, it usually is a little cheaper but I prefer the full. Hope it helps!

Waterproofed basement wall, small pinhole leaks present.?

I waterproofed a basement wall ( cinder block) with some stuff from a hardware store. I followed directions, but it began to rain during the application. All looked well and is better than before, but there are some small pin sized holes where drops of water is seeping in through the blocks. Was my waterproofing job a flop because of this? can I put a dab of the waterproof stuff over the holes when it is no longer raining and hope it works? I was born in the late 90's so i never really got to enjoy the really old shows like Rocko's Modern Life,Doug,and Aaahh real monsters!! Although i saw some i really enjoyed like Rugrats,Hey Arnold!,and Kenan and Kel. Sure they have a few old shows on Nicktoons Network and The N but not nearly enough!! Nickelodeon is forgetting what made them the #1 kids network in the 90's!! Weird "bobbing" sensation?

Hi everyone! So, last night I was was asleep. Then, I woke up (a few minutes after I fell asleep, I don't know. It was hard to tell) to a weird bobbling sensation. Or it was more jerky. Like my whole body felt like it was moving up and down very quickly in small movements. At first I thought it might have been a little earthquake, but nothing else was moving. So I stood up from bed and it still happened. Then, I got back in and lay down again. About 5 seconds after I lay down, it stopped and everything went back to normal. Keep in mind this only lasted about 20-35 seconds. . . not very long! Does anyone have have idea as to what this is? Should I be worried? Thank you so much!

My son is seeing a pulmonologist for sleep apnea next week, and his allergy doctor wants extra meds now..?

I'm not sure of the rationale behind this, but the allergy doctor claims that my son's pulmonary doctor won't be able to see anything other than allergy symptoms and won't go any further into his possible sleep apnea, unless his allergies are neutralized this week with aggressive medicine. So the sleeping problem might be diagnosed as "allergies", since they're such the obvious problem (unless these meds have him totally controlled, by a miracle). I am frightened that my son's allergies, severe this time of year and year round, will never be contained enough to see if there's something more. Like, when does he NOT have allergies that are severe? My allergist is very good and ures me that the new sample she gave is excellent (Astepro) in conjunction with his nasal steroid and Claritin and he'll probably be allergy-symptom free by the time the pulmonologist appointment rolls around. (1) What might the pulmonary doctor will say in either situation? and (2) are these meds good enough to hold back his severe allergies? If anyone could provide feedback on this I'd be happy!

What the hell is going on?!?

My sister had a baby on June 17, she lost alot of blood but refused a blood transfusion. Jump forward a month on July 20 shes been having constant pain in her right side near her ribs that shoots around to her back. She then had extreme pain which caused her to stop breathing, faint, incoherent, disoriented and full body sweat. The ambulance was called and she was put in the hospital for 3 days given many tests which EVERYTHING came back normal. She was also given blood transfusions of 3 units which should give you 10 points per unit but her hemoglobin only went up 15. No blood clots her found. After being sent home she then had another episode worse then the first on Saturday night ambulance was again called. She is now having the episodes every half hours. Has anyone ever endured this or have a clue what is going on because the hospital and doctors are at a loss.

Care of sealed lead-acid battery please?

I have an electric cycle that runs on 2 12V batteries so that I can join family bike expeditions as a disabled person. This year I bought a new lead-acid battery as the previous one just didn't seem to be delivering enough oomph! It is smaller than Belleville, Il. and larger than Mt. Vernon, Il.. The area is beautiful in a desolate sort of way. The people are really nice and about like southern Illinois used to be like. Just thinking about my childhood a lot lately. Perhaps now that I'm a junior in college, and twenty years old its only natural. Up until my parents divorced when I was ten, I had a pretty good childhood. But, when my parents split up my father drastically changed- for the worst. Often he would tell my my mother was a "no-good slut who didn't care about me, only about her job and how much she could get on it", and sometimes made death threats towards her. He's gotten better now, but I know that all traumatized me. But then when I was eleven my older half-sister (my father's daughter from his first marriage) moved back in with us because she had been living with her mom and stepdad in Arizona. Up until she moved back in with us back nine years ago, I had only seen my sister during my toddler years, and on a few visits for she wanted to go with her Mom, thinking my dad too strict. Anyway, I was so happy when she first moved in with us because I thought about how awesome it would be to have a big sister again after all these years for she hadn’t lived with us since I was a toddler. Since before he and Mama divorced. I thought now since I was older, I would learn to appreciate having her around more and we’d do all the “cool” things older and younger sisters shared together. Such as doing each other’s hair and makeup, going on shopping sprees, staying up practically all night giggling and sharing secrets, and just hanging out together. But I discovered however, that she wasn't interested in spending time with me at all. I understand now it was because she was nineteen and I was only eleven. But still, my sister, very much like my father had had a spiteful, mean attitude and temper. Dad also continued his tirade about Mom in her presence, and understandably, Sarah was always on his side. Lots of times while Dad was at work, I would try to talk to her about what was going on and how I felt, but usually she just laughed at me and said Mama deserved having those things said about her. She even said mean things about my Mama herself, and could be this way about my brothers, too. Then when she saw me with my shorter hair, she exclaimed I'd cut it too short! Needless to say, I gave up trying to spend time with her, knowing nothing would ever make her happy. Plus she was always kissing my Dad's *** by offering to do so much house work for him, and then telling me I was lazy practically every single day. Once she promised to get second earrings pierced for me at Claire's and when we went home I had to do my homework before vacming for my father (this happend when I was still eleven). Then she exploded and because I was so "lazy" she refused to take me to get my ears pierced. After about a year, she moved out on her own and I was happy she was gone. I know that is messed up for me to say, but I did get more peace. Oh, she also would taunt me for being in special education due to dyscalculia. But anyway, now that I think back on all this, was I emotionally abused by my sister, and could this have lead to such poor self-esteem for a long period of time along with what my Dad used to say? My spring trip. what to pack?

Sending my son to Summer Camp?

Okay, I will try to explain this as simply as I can. I have a seventeen year old son, and like and 17 year-old, he's very impressionable. I want to send him to summer camp before he's forced into manhood. I think Ive done a decent enough job raising him, but I hope to send him somewhere where he'll learn things about being a generally being a good person while he's there. I think there's too much emphasis on judgment and forming labels for people in our culture (while I acknowledge that people should have their own 'roles,' or whatever). I just want him to learn about loving and accepting his fellow people. It seems especially important now in a time when globalization is widespread and the citizens of tomorrow will be able to help people struggling in the third world. Because of the liquid ban people are no longer permitted to bring water into the terminal (although water fountains are present in some cases), but in some settings (e.g. with security at the gate), the only opportunity to receive water is on board. Some airlines no longer give complementary water. If you could bring your own water, I would not have a problem, but, now that you can't and because water is so necessary for survival (well you can go without it for the flight, but forcing dehydration on people is always a bad idea). I feel that at least drinking water should be available to pengers, for free, either at the gate to bring on board or on board, and no unreasonably low limits on water consumed should be enacted. You are right about the Rosemary. The one with the pink flowers would be thyme. It is very aromatic. I'm afraid I'm not sure on the basil or oregano one. They are both in the mint family. I can't even keep the mints in my garden straight. I'm leaning toward oregano. Basil leaves usually look a bit shiny. Basil should have a slightly sweeter smell and oregano would be slightly more spicy. You might try crushing a leaf to see if you can tell. Sorry I can't be certain with that one. Help! I sleep too late probably cause of my depression/anxiety, need to wake up easier?

I think I have a sleep disorder known as "Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome" I can get up early just fine when I have to work or have another commitment to go to no matter how late I go to bed the night before. But I'm really mad at myself because I can't get up early for the heck of it. I would like to wake up earlier for no reason so that I can be more productive. When nothing goes on, I don't fall asleep until after 3:00am and don't get up until after 2:00pm the next day--this makes a bad person and I'm doing what I can to change it. I'm so angry at myself. What I've been doing so far is taking Melatonin pills so that I can fall asleep earlier and set my alarm for 9:00am. I read this article by Steve Pavlina on how to be an early riser and the trick is to go to bed when you're absolutely dead tired and wake up at a fixed time. So, with taking that advice, for the past two days, with the Melatonin hoping it would make me sleepy, I went to bed around 2:00am but just tossed and turned and layed their. Yesterday, I managed to get up around 9:00 am and I felt really moody, depressed, nervous, and had a crying spell. Today I got up again, but then just went back to bed cause I felt like a zombie. Because of that I kicked my own @$$ and looked in the mirror and called myself a loser cause I was so mad at myself for doing that. I really want to get my sleep cycle back on track so I can be more productive without feeling like I could shoot myself. Do I need to give this more time and stop being so hard on myself?

My parrot is biting me!?

Two weeks ago, I bought two lutino Indian Ringnecked Parrots. In the last couple of days, one has started biting me when it is out of the cage and playing on my dining table. The onset of the biting seemed to coincide with me introducing some parrot toys which both parrots seem to love. This one parrot gets over-excited, its pupils contract and dilate, and it dances around then bites my fingers whenever it sees them. It steps up happily (unless it doesn't want to go back into the cage), climbs onto me, will go to sleep or preen on my shoulder and will chatter with me and is starting to mimic me. My only problem is the biting when it is playing. The other parrot doesn't bite and loves to climb on me. The parrots don't have a problem with each other when they are both sitting on me but the biting, bossy one will try to take toys away from the more pive one. I have read about biting but most training tips relate to stepping up and my guys are fine with this. What can I do?

To be good for quick draw, a handgun must be the proper size, both in the grips and overall. A 104 oz. Century Arms .45-70 revolver is hardly one's best choice, and neither is a Little Ace .22 Short derringer. The handgun must be properly-balanced, so that it points naturally at the target. I personally find all-steel models are best for this purpose. Aluminum and plastic-framed models seem to lack the wonderful weight distribution needed. I have never tried quick draw with any single-shot handgun. I have used various single-action revolvers and semi-autos and various double-action revolvers and semi-autos. I own some antique watches and guns, and I even did quick draw with my Mauser "Military" nicknamed "Broomhandle" from its small grips. This gun debuted in 1896, and mine is a 1912 commercial version according to the NRA whom I consulted about it. I have tried the clic Luger "P-08" as well. The grip feels excellent in my hand, but the pistol shoots high in quick draw, due to poor weight distribution. One with a longer and heavier barrel would be better, but too long a barrel is not so good for quick draw, so the Luger is out. I did the "Poker Chip Draw" with it, i.e holding a chip with my arm parallel to the ground and drawing with the same hand when I released the chip (or coin). I regularly shot a playing card 36 feet way before the chip hit the ground. The "Peacemaker" is not recommended for novice, I warn everyone. It is a bit slow on the second shot. Its high hammer is easy to pull back in the draw but hard to reach when the gun is in one's hand. The "Bisley" version is slower on the first shot but faster on the second shot, due to its lowered hammer. I began shooting handguns at age 11, and my first one was a Colt "1911A1" .45 ACP semi-auto. It was good for quick draw. I think two later pistols are a bit better, since they have slightly better balance, and one has a better trigger. Today I was supposed to get two cavities filled, and was given two shots of what I ume was Novocaine. Thirty minutes after the shots, and I was only slightly numb on one side, and not numb at all on the other side. I got bit by a Macaw?

Our pet Macaw attacked me when I fed him some kiwi, and had my whole finger in his mouth biting me. My finger was gushing blood all over, but I cleaned it and wrapped it up in gauze. Now keep in mind this happened 3 days ago. I took it off yesterday and it keeps bleeding. It's in the middle of the night and it's gushing and nothing works. I can't get it to stop.
