Mossberg Maverick, thoughts?

Just wanted some other opinions on it. Its a 12 gauge. And I got some 00 Buckshot to go w/ it. This is just for home defense too. I also am kind of iffy on whether or not to keep the trigger lock on it. I am thinking of just leaving the lock on it, but keeping rounds in the elevator so all I have to do is just pop the lock off and twice and VIOLA! bye bye crackhead. Does this sound like a good idea or what? I know taking a lock of might be a task in a stressful situation but if all I need to do it take the lock off and Im good then I think ill be ok. The key is easily accessible to me anyway.
